Rotary Linlithgow Grange, Scotland

After getting settled here in Edinburgh, I had the chance to get in touch with the local Rotaract club. I met Florentine, the President, a few days after my arrival, for the fireworks for the end of the Edinburgh festivals. Then, I attended a bit of a social event between Rotaract Edinburgh and Rotary Linlithgow Grange.

Linlithgow is a city of about 10,000 about a 20 minute train ride from central Edinburgh. The Rotary club has about 42 members.

Along with 3 other Rotaract Edinburgh members, I took the train to the Linlithgow meeting. There we had a nice dinner, shared some drinks, met some of the members of their club, and joined in on their regular Monday meeting.

But the evening's real event was a fun trivia competition between Rotary Linlithgow and Rotaract Edinburgh. The four of us at one table, four Rotarians at the other table. 5 rounds of questions were asked, ranging from Scotland's geography questions, to popular culture, to Rotary trivia. Points were doled out based on right & wrong answers. In the end, wisdom prevailed over youth! A crushing 31-13 defeat was handed to the Rotaractors! All in all, good fun, and real nice people from the Linlithgow club.
